We have an ongoing preliminary investigation concerning negligence in maritime traffic. One person is suspected, says Pernilla Johansson, press communicator at the Coast Guard, to the newspaper.

She does not want to tell which role in the crew the suspect has.

The entire crew of 24 people is still on board the stranded vessel and no one is arrested.

The Panama-flagged cargo ship Meshka was on its way south to a Russian port when it ran aground in the Öresund off Landskrona on Saturday.

The ship is empty of cargo but had recently refueled. On board, there are 938,000 liters of oil, according to the Coast Guard. Late on Saturday evening, the Coast Guard's divers reported that they had not found any leaks in the hull.

The depth at the site is three meters. The ship is seven meters deep.

The grounding is the second in the Öresund within a week. A smaller cargo ship ran aground off Klagshamn, south of Malmö, on May 25. There, one person is suspected of maritime intoxication and yet another of gross negligence in maritime traffic, according to Sydsvenskan.
