The 17-year-old will also be deported for life after serving his sentence, the Svea Court of Appeal has decided.
The shooter, who was 16 at the time, was sentenced in the district court to ten years and ten months in prison and deportation for ten years.
In March 2025 the victim and three friends were on their way home from the gym in the Fruängen district when a lone perpetrator opened fire. At least nine shots were fired, one friend was injured, and the 16-year-old was hit in the head.
The intended target is suspected to have been someone else.
