Court of Appeal acquits 17 climate activists of unlawful trespass at Grimsås peat bog

Last summer, 17 climate activists were convicted of, among other things, unlawful trespass after a protest at a peat bog in Grimsås in 2024. Now the Court of Appeal has acquitted all of them of that charge.

The Court of Appeal for Western Sweden has ruled that the right of public access applies in the area and acquitted the activists of unlawful trespass, reports P4 Sjuhärad.

However, they were sentenced to day-fines for arbitrary conduct because their actions hindered the peat company’s operations.
