Court expert: Prince Andrew's arrest on birthday no coincidence

The arrest of former British Prince Andrew is a "completely sensational" event, according to court expert Johan T. Lindwall. The fact that the arrest happened on Andrew's birthday is no coincidence, Lindwall believes.

It is a mark from the authorities, to show that even on your birthday we can arrest you on royal grounds, says Johan T Lindwall, editor-in-chief of Svensk Damtidning.

"Nothing like this has ever happened before," he asserts.

But it is not certain that the British royal family will be harmed by the incident - perhaps it is even the opposite. The British have been hardened after all the previous scandals, he believes.

Everyone knows by now that the rotten egg in the basket is not Charles, it's Andrew. I think there will be more empathy and sympathy for Charles and the monarchy.

They see how Charles struggles, and so Andrew pulls these things down time and time again.

The suspicions against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor relate to alleged "misconduct in public office".

Information emerging from the Epstein investigation alleges that he may have passed confidential information he had access to as a trade envoy for the United Kingdom to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

"It is incredibly serious that he has used his position to give away information to a convicted sex offender," comments Johan T Lindwall.

He describes the former prince's reputation as completely lost in Britain. But what explanation is there for how he has been able to get himself into this situation?

I think it's all about poor judgment and a lack of consideration for the consequences.
