After a calmer summer with fewer bankruptcies, the number of companies going bankrupt has increased again. In September the increase was 8 percent and in October the increase was a full 17 percent to a total of 965 companies in bankruptcy compared to the same period last year, according to the credit information company Syna.
"After a period of lower bankruptcy pressure during the summer months, the number of bankruptcies usually increases during the autumn. This has been the case historically, but the development is still worrying," says CEO Karl Stjerna in a press release.
The statistics are somewhat spread out across the three metropolitan areas. In Stockholm County the increase was 38 percent, in Skåne County only 2 percent up, while the increase in Västra Götaland County was 7 percent.
