Cornell Students Stage Sit-In Over University’s Handling of Alleged Gang Rape

Outside a campus cafeteria, several students sat with handwritten signs bearing messages such as “stop protecting rapists” and “justice for Jane Doe” - the anonymous woman who accused seven men of raping her in a student union house on the campus in Ithaca, New York.

The striking students also vowed never to spend any money on campus again.

All of the accused men have denied any wrongdoing. According to the university, some were disciplined and suspended. Two were expelled. The university has admitted that some of the men were “punished” with essays.
