The co-pilot stabbed the pilot with the intention of then crashing the plane into either Ben Gurion Airport or a residential complex in Tel Aviv, Israeli news outlets Keshet 12 and Ynet report.
According to the reports, the man, who is now being held in Saudi Arabia after the plane made an emergency landing there, has told investigators about his plans.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously said that the man had been radicalized and praised the captain and passengers who stopped the co-pilot. All 180 people on board survived.
