At the turn of the year, Postnord stopped delivering letters throughout Denmark.

Postnord, which has had the contract since 1624, announced at the time that it wanted to focus on parcels instead.

The distribution company Dao took over responsibility for letter delivery, but the Municipality of Copenhagen has now chosen to end the collaboration as of September because of "challenges".

Ritzau writes this with reference to the media outlet KøbenhavnLiv, which has reviewed a series of documents from the municipality's finance committee.

It is not clear what challenges led to the decision.

It is also unclear who will ensure that residents of the Danish capital receive letters in the future.
