The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has reviewed 1,000 cases and relocated three people convicted of sex crimes who had been required to perform their community service in children's and youth associations. This follows an investigation by SVT Nyheter Skåne.

According to the review, at least 17 people sentenced to community service for various sex crimes had been placed in associations with children and youth activities in the past two years.

Following the revelation, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service has reviewed all ongoing community service cases - more than a thousand - as well as the cases included in the original review. In three cases, people convicted of sexual offences who had been placed in associations with children and young people have now been moved.

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has also tightened its procedures to ensure that placements are appropriate.
