At least 17 people sentenced to community service for various sexual offenses have been placed in associations that run activities for children and young people in the past two years.

This is shown by SVT News Skåne's review of the Prison and Probation Service's placements.

The associations are not informed about the crimes that led to the individuals being sentenced to community service.

We think it is important that it is the convicted person themselves who does it; it is not our job to tell you what someone is convicted of, says Henrik Svärd, local probation manager at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, to SVT.

He agrees that the cases highlighted by SVT are not appropriate placements and emphasizes that children's safety should be prioritized. The cases include people convicted of child sexual abuse, child pornography offences, sexual harassment and negligent rape.
