The heavily criticized organization Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which previously handled the distribution of emergency aid in Gaza, is closing down.

“We have succeeded in our mission to demonstrate that there are better ways to deliver emergency aid to Gazans,” said GHF Director John Acree in a statement.

The Israeli-American organization distributed emergency aid from late May until the ceasefire came into effect in October. The food distributions were marked by chaos and deaths, and GHF employees and Israeli soldiers have previously testified that Palestinians seeking aid were deliberately shot at near the distribution sites.
