”Brainstorm is a classic cultural magazine that is nominated for both its depth, breadth and consistency. It has given space to essays, criticism and cultural debate at a consistently high level for almost 50 years”, the jury writes in its motivation.
Other magazines that have been nominated for the prize are Respons, Tydningen and NON. The winner will be announced on October 25 in Stockholm.
The prize is awarded by the Association of Sweden's cultural magazines, FSK, in collaboration with the Society of the Nine and includes 50,000 kronor. Last year it went to the magazine Expo.
FSK emphasizes that the prize, which has been awarded since 1996, has become increasingly important since many cultural magazines are struggling economically right now.
