The US Congressional Budget Office, CBO, has been the victim of a hacker attack.

The CBO has approximately 275 employees and is responsible, among other things, for producing cost estimates for new legislative proposals. The agency thus handles a large amount of data from the US government apparatus.

The incident was confirmed on Thursday. It is unclear whether any information was leaked in connection with the cyberattack.

According to sources to The Washington Post, a "foreign actor" is suspected of carrying out the attack.
