Congo reports more than 6,000 Ebola cases, nearly 3,000 deaths

So far, nearly 3,000 people have died in the country's worst Ebola epidemic.

The announcement on Monday from the country's health authorities shows that the outbreak is worse than the epidemic that lasted from 2018 to 2020.

According to figures confirmed by the country, 2,911 people have died, while 1,366 have recovered out of 6,041 confirmed cases.

In the latest epidemic, the outbreak is caused by the Bundibugyo variant.
