In March 2024, a 17-year-old girl was found dead by the Viskan stream in Mark Municipality. An 18-year-old man was arrested and sentenced to forensic psychiatric care for the murder, but was acquitted of rape.
The Court of Appeal is now upholding the verdict, reports P4 Sjuhärad.
The district court verdict was appealed by both sides. The prosecution wanted the man to be convicted of rape as well. The defense, which claimed that the death was an accident, in turn wanted the man to be acquitted of murder.
