Fewer apartments sold in central Stockholm, combined with falling prices there, are cited as explanations for the 2.5 percent decline. At the same time, the annual price trend for the capital is 8.5 percent.

House prices in the country rose by 0.9 percent in July. On an annual basis, the price increase is 4.6 percent for condominiums and 3.4 percent for villas.

"We see a clear seasonal effect, especially in the owner-occupied housing market, where the number of sales in areas with the highest prices drops during the summer, pulling the price statistics downward," says Oskar Öholm, CEO of Mäklarsamfundet, in a press release.

He adds that sales volumes are the highest during the January-July period since the pandemic years.
