The inquiry into Safer Access to Medicines is now presenting an interim report that, among other things, proposes that the Medical Products Agency should be able to redistribute medicines in crisis situations.
"We know that voluntary measures go a long way, but we see that mandatory measures may be needed," says investigator Maria Landgren at a press conference together with Minister of Social Affairs Jakob Forssmed (KD).
"When there is a risk of hoarding, when medicines are at risk of disappearing from the country and if redistribution from hospitals or other healthcare facilities is required," she continues.
The investigation also proposes that the state establish a purchasing center for pharmaceuticals.
The full investigation will be presented in November.
