A new competition aims to elevate the toddler picture book as an art form. It was initiated by Alfabeta publishing house in collaboration with author and illustrator Anna-Clara Tidholm.

Anna-Clara Tidholm, who turns 80 this year, has been something of a pioneer in the field of picture books for very young children. Her works include "Knock!" and "Find!", books that have been read to hundreds of thousands of children for three decades.

In the competition "The Picture Book for Toddlers Now!" the winning entry will receive 50,000 kronor and publication by Alfabeta förlag. The winner will be announced at this year's Book Fair in Gothenburg on 24–25 September. Anna-Clara Tidholm will be on the jury.

The jury is especially looking for books that "encourage interaction between the child, the book and the reader reading aloud."
