Colorado is going from strength to strength in this season's NHL. In last night's summit, they took revenge on Minnesota and solidified their place at the top of the league's Western Conference.
Jesper Wallstedt had a tough night in the Minnesota goal; the Swede had to let four goals past him before Nathan MacKinnon closed the game, with his second goal of the night, in an open basket.
Gabriel Landeskog played for both Martin Neca's 1–0 goal at the end of the first period and Cale Makar's 3–0 just one period later.
This ended Minnesota's impressive streak of seven straight victories – all in regular time.
Colorado tops the Western Conference with 59 points scored, ten ahead of Minnesota in third place.
"They're important benchmarks for us, the games against Minnesota and Dallas (second in the standings). They're teams that we're trying to stay ahead of in the series and that we know we're going to face in the playoffs," Colorado coach Jared Bednar said, according to nhl.com.
