Colombia is getting closer to an agreement to buy Gripen planes.
In April, the country's president Gustavo Petro announced on X that he planned to renew his defense with the Swedish fighter planes, and according to Colombia's defense minister Pedro Sánchez, the countries are getting closer to an agreement, reports Sveriges radio Ekot.
Sánchez states in an interview with the Colombian newspaper El Tiempo that they expect to sign a contract in September for between 16 and 24 fighter planes.
We expect to sign the contract in September and then the first planes are expected to be delivered about 18 months later, says Sánchez to El Tiempo.
