Colombia's president Gustavo Petro ordered on Wednesday that all remaining Israeli diplomats in the country are to be expelled.

The decision was made as a result of Israel's decision to stop the ship convoy Global Sumud Flotilla, which had traveled to Gaza with emergency aid. Among the activists on the ships were, among others, Swedish Greta Thunberg.

According to the president, two Colombian women have been arrested by Israel in connection with the incident. He now demands that the women "be released immediately".

Left-leaning Petro broke off relations with Israel last year, but four diplomats remained in the country, according to the news agency AFP.
