Prices in grocery stores were largely unchanged in August. Food prices fell by 0.1 percent compared with the previous month.

Among the goods with the biggest declines in August was coffee, especially brewed coffee, whose price fell by 3.9 percent. The price of chocolate bars fell by 3.4 percent over the same period.

"World market prices are enabling price cuts on coffee and chocolate, and it is welcome that this continues to be reflected in store prices. Coffee is now as cheap or expensive as it was two years ago," says Ulf Mazur, CEO of Matpriskollen, in a press release.

Over the past 12 months, regular food prices - including the reduction in food VAT from 10% to 6% - have fallen by 6.0%.
