Coco Gauff had no problems getting past the third round in the US Open for the fourth year in a row.

In front of 23,000 spectators, the world's third rank made short work of the Pole Magdalena Frech and easily won 2–0 in sets (6–3, 6–1).

When the American, during the night towards Friday, Swedish time, advanced from the second round, she fell into tears and then talked about having had a few tough weeks behind her. After the win against Frech, she elaborated on what she meant.

I think I needed to go through the tough moments to be able to move on. I have put so much pressure on myself, but now I'm just here and trying to enjoy and not focus so much on the result, but on my development. Today, I showed that I had fun out there.

Gauff will face the winner of Daria Kasatkina and Naomi Osaka in the eighth finals.
