The confectionery manufacturer Cloetta – with brands such as Läkerol, Ahlgrens cars and Kexchoklad in the portfolio – reports a profit of 350 million kronor for the first quarter of the year. This can be compared to the profit of 193 million during the corresponding quarter last year.

The net sales decreased marginally to 2,039 million kronor, down from 2,094 million.

The sales of loose sweets increased by 4.6 percent adjusted for comparability-affecting items, while it pointed downwards with 3.4 percent for packaged branded goods.

"We have seen a volume shift from the chocolate category to other types of sweets as a result of increased prices on chocolate. One of the advantages of our broad product portfolio is that we can effectively counteract fluctuations in consumer preferences and consumption patterns", says CEO Katarina Tell in a comment in the report.
