What has been published?
The US Department of Justice on Friday released thousands of documents related to the legal proceedings surrounding the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, following strong political and public pressure.
Some of the documents in the approximately 3,900 files appear to have been released previously.
According to Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanch, hundreds of thousands more documents will be released in the coming weeks.
.
Who are seen in the pictures?
The files include a large number of previously unpublished photos. Several of them are of former President Bill Clinton, taken several years ago, and show him in a hot tub with a person masked with a black square.
Other photos show the former president with famous artists such as Michael Jackson, Diana Ross and Mick Jagger, as well as the scandal-plagued Prince Andrew, his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, actor Kevin Spacey and British billionaire Richard Branson.
.
What has been withheld?
In many cases, the content of the files shows very little because they have been masked. For example, a list of 254 masseuses is completely blacked out.
In other cases, the documents lack context, making it difficult to interpret the meaning of the information.
Expectations have been high that the files will show Epstein's network of contacts with business leaders, celebrities and politicians, including President Trump.
But it is still unclear how much of the documents the Justice Department is prepared to make public and how the selection is made.
