Cliff Richard has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The 85-year-old British singer tells "Good Morning Britain" that the cancer was discovered at an early stage, when he had a health check-up before a tour of Australia and New Zealand, writes the BBC.

"Luckily it was 'new' cancer, and it hasn't metastasized. I don't know if it will come back, but I will be tested and checked," he says.

Richard also says he wants to collaborate with King Charles, who himself has the disease, on improving the screening programs that exist so that British men can receive an early diagnosis.

Cliff Richard is one of Britain's most beloved artists. He broke through in the 1950s and is the only singer to have been number one on the British charts for six decades.
