Linköping has made it clear with a new coach after firing Klas Östman earlier in the week. It will be former Timrå coach Anders "Ante" Karlsson who takes over the SHL club.

Karlsson has written a contract for the season.

"It has gone fast in recent days and there have been quick decisions, but I felt directly that working for Linköping – it is and feels inspiring", says Karlsson on Linköping's website.

Linköping has started the season poorly and is currently in 12th place in SHL, two points above the relegation line.

This after last season finishing sixth and making it to the playoffs for the first time since 2018.

"We want to start by becoming a tougher team to meet. We will be extremely strong and tough to meet at home in Saab Arena. Linköping has a developing team with a mix of young and slightly older players, with a lot of skill in them", says Karlsson.

Anders Karlsson took Timrå from HockeyAllsvenskan and established the team in SHL, but did not get a new contract after last season.

Before that, he has been, among other things, an assistant coach in Färjestad.
