Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), led by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, has scored its best-ever result, official election results show, AFP reports.
The party won 315 seats in the recent general election, giving it a two-thirds majority.
Takaichi took office as Japan's first female prime minister in October and called new elections in an attempt to capitalize on an early boost in popularity.
