With Viktor Johansson and Jacob Widell Zetterström out of the squad, the fight for the spot between the posts was among Nordfeldt, Noel Törnqvist and Melker Ellborg.
The latter two are waiting to make their first international appearances.
Nordfeldt, who has a long national team career as a reserve, has appeared in 18 international matches.
The national football team plays the World Cup playoff semi-final against Ukraine on a neutral field in Valencia on Thursday evening.
The winner of the match will face Poland or Albania in the final on Tuesday.
