Manchester City were close to making a fiasco in the Champions League and missing advancement.

In the last round, however, Club Brugge was defeated and City advanced with difficulty.

This means a tough draw in the playoffs.

In the round of 16, or playoffs as it is also called, Real Madrid awaits.

This is because the teams that finished 9-24th in the group stage get to play in the round of 16.

The top eight teams are directly qualified for the quarterfinals.

Bayern Munich was the other potential opponent for Manchester City, but the German giant was instead drawn against Celtic.

Viktor Gyökeres and his Sporting Lisbon were drawn against Dortmund.

Club Brugge–Atalanta, Sporting Lisbon–Dortmund, Manchester City–Real Madrid, Celtic–Bayern Munich, Juventus–PSV Eindhoven, Feyenoord–Milan, Brest–Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco–Benfica.

The matches will be played on February 11 or 12 with returns on February 18-19.

Liverpool, Barcelona, Arsenal, Inter, Atletico Madrid, Leverkusen, Lille, and Aston Villa are directly qualified for the quarterfinals.
