One of the most expensive cars ever sold has gone under the hammer at an auction in Stuttgart.
After more than a quarter of an hour of bidding, the other interested buyers had to give up when an anonymous buyer bid 46.5 million euros, reports the German media company SWR. After fees, the buyer will have to pay 51.1 million euros, equivalent to 588 million kronor.
The car, a Mercedes-Benz W 196 R from 1954, was driven by British Formula 1 driver Stirling Moss, who won several F1 races with it.
Despite the high price, the car is not the most expensive one ever sold. In 2022, a Mercedes 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe was sold at auction for the equivalent of 1.6 billion kronor.
