The jury's motivation describes Falkenland's writing as "remarkably shimmering like a silk cathedral in Swedish literature".

"I am very grateful and honored to receive an award that bears Sara Danius's name. It gives courage, inspires and spurs me on," says the award winner in a press release.

Falkenland made her debut in 1991 with the poetry collection "Illusio". Since then she has written poetry collections, novels and children's and young adult books. She has previously received literary awards such as the Svenska Dagbladet Literature Prize and the Sveriges Radio Novel Prize for the novel "Öde".
