In July, Christian Horner was fired with immediate effect from Red Bull – the Formula 1 team he has led since its start in 2005.
On Monday, Red Bull announced that they had agreed with Horner, who had a contract until 2030, on the details of his departure. According to British media, he is said to receive 80 million pounds, equivalent to 1 billion kronor, in severance pay.
According to a press release, Horner says:
"I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved, broken records and reached heights that no one thought were possible and that I will always carry with me".
Horner has led the team to eight driver titles and six team titles. Almost two years ago, a female colleague accused Horner of inappropriate behavior but the Briton was cleared twice by the F1 team's parent company.
