The cost of a building permit for a villa varies greatly between municipalities, something that, according to the Christian Democrats, hits families who want to build their own villa hard and unfairly.

"The municipalities' building permit fees have become a lottery," writes Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Andreas Carlson (KD) in a comment to TT.

The party is now proposing a cap on building permit fees, which should not exceed the current average of SEK 28,000.

Today, a building permit fee can be SEK 17,000 in one municipality while exceeding SEK 60,000 in another.

"A building permit should not be a cash cow for the municipality," writes Andreas Carlson.
