"Against all odds, Christa Pike is conscious, speaking, and continuing to receive medical care," her lawyers said in a statement Tuesday.
The state of Tennessee failed to execute Pike, despite injecting two doses of the lethal drug pentobarbital into her arms. She was taken to hospital, where she was put on a ventilator.
Her lawyers are demanding that Pike's death sentence be overturned, saying medical personnel treated her "like a human being" after the botched execution.
"But despite the severe injuries she sustained to her arm during the lethal injection, she is still handcuffed and chained to the bed," they wrote.
