More chocolate is being stolen in Denmark. To stop the thefts, chocolate cakes are now being equipped with alarms.

In Denmark, the chocolate price has risen by over 20 percent in the last year and has made chocolate cakes a hot target for thieves, writes the newspaper BT.

Particularly theft-prone are chocolate cakes from Swedish Marabou, and therefore the food giant Salling Group has started setting alarms on them.

For the time being, it's unfortunately a necessity, says Christoffer Roslyng Green, press spokesperson at Salling Group to the newspaper.

Salling Group is behind retail chains such as Bilka, Netto and Føtex.
