The index fell 0.1 percent, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index fell 0.4 percent. At the same time, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.4 percent.
The decline in the first two indices comes ahead of chipmaker Micron's quarterly report, which is due on Wednesday evening. It is seen as an important gauge of whether the rally in AI-related stocks will last.
Micron's stock fell 0.4 percent during the trading day.
The dollar has continued to strengthen against the krona and is trading at 9.77 kronor.
