Swedes shop more online. In April, e-commerce turnover was 14.2 billion kronor, which is an increase of 13 percent compared to the same month last year. It is the second month in a row that e-commerce increases two-digit.
Almost every fourth consumer shopped from foreign actors, which is the highest proportion since Swedish trade began measuring it at the beginning of 2020. According to Swedish Trade, the development is driven by Chinese actors, particularly Temu.
"It shows how borderless e-commerce has become. But it is also a wake-up call – when global platform companies can compete on completely different terms, we risk hollowing out both fairness and long-term conditions for Swedish trade", says Per Ljungberg, innovation manager at Swedish Trade.
