On Friday, it emerged that Finance Minister Scott Bessent, Trade Minister Howard Lutnick and trade representative Jamieson Greer are among the participants in London on Monday.
Now, the Foreign Ministry in Beijing reports that He Lifeng will be in the United Kingdom from Sunday to Friday and, among other things, meet with the American negotiators for a second round of trade talks.
After negotiations in Switzerland in May under the leadership of Bessent and He Lifeng, the world's two largest economies agreed to put the extremely high levels of import tariffs on hold for 90 days to allow for more negotiations.
But lately, it has started to creak in the joints and the tone between Beijing and Washington has frozen again.
On Thursday, Trump spoke on the phone with China's President Xi Jinping for the first time since Trump became president for the second time, with trade tariffs among the things on the agenda.
