Industrial production in China grew in April compared to the same month last year, while consumption declined, according to Chinese statistics.
The statistics, which come at a time marked by the US-initiated trade war between Washington and Beijing, show that production within the industry grew by 6.1 percent last month compared to April 2024, which was better compared to analysts' average expectation.
As for consumption in retail, the picture was gloomier. Although it increased by 5.1 percent compared to the same period last year, this was below analysts' forecast of 5.5 percent.
