China's former national football team captain, Li Tie, is sentenced to 20 years in prison for corruption, reports the state news agency New China.
Li Tie led China's men's team in 2020 and 2021, made nearly 100 national team appearances and has played in the Premier League for Everton.
Li Tie earlier this year admitted to bribing his way to the position of head coach at a club in the Chinese Super League and, as a club coach, engaging in match-fixing.
