While the rest of the world has got tariffs of ten percent on their goods from the USA, China and the USA are locked in a trade war with high stakes. The USA has introduced tariffs of up to 145 percent on Chinese products, while China has responded with 125-percent tariffs on American goods.
A number of countries are engaged in negotiations with the USA to reduce the tariffs – something that China is now warning against.
"Concession policy will not bring peace and compromises will not be respected", says a spokesperson for Beijing's trade department in a statement.
According to the spokesperson, China "firmly" opposes other countries reaching an agreement at the expense of China's interests.
"If such a situation occurs, China will never accept it and will resolutely take reciprocal countermeasures", the statement continues.
