The USA must end its military cooperation with Taiwan. This was stated by China's top military officer Zhang Youxia to the USA's national security adviser Jake Sullivan during his visit to Beijing, according to China's defense department.
China demands that the USA stops its military cooperation with Taiwan, stops arming Taiwan, and stops spreading false information related to Taiwan, Zhang said to Sullivan, according to the department.
Sullivan also met with China's President Xi Jinping on Thursday, reports the state news agency New China.
Jake Sullivan arrived in China on Tuesday as the first national security adviser from the USA to visit China since 2016.
On Wednesday, Sullivan and China's top diplomat Wang Yi discussed plans for a phone call between the USA's President Joe Biden and Xi Jinping in the coming weeks. They also discussed security in disputed maritime areas in the region.
