The measure is seen as a further step in Beijing's increasingly intense efforts to strengthen the domestic semiconductor industry and compete with the US.

The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) urged, among others, Bytedance and Alibaba this week to terminate their tests and orders for the RTX Pro 6000D, which Nvidia tailored for China and introduced two months ago.

The CAC has previously urged local companies not to purchase Nvidia's H20 chip, which is only used in China, mainly for AI.

The message is now clear and straightforward. Previously, there were hopes for renewed delivery from Nvidia if the geopolitical situation improved. Now the focus is on building up the domestic system, says a manager at one of the technology companies according to the Financial Times.
