The indices in both Shenzhen and Shanghai fell on Monday morning. By lunchtime, Shenzhen was down 3.1 percent while Shanghai was down 1.6 percent.
The moves come after China reported its slowest monthly industrial profit growth, CNBC reports.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng is up 0.8 percent and South Korea's Kospi is down 2.4 percent.
In Japan, the moves are somewhat smaller. The Nikkei 225 is unchanged while the broader Topix is up 0.2 percent.
