China is postponing the increase in tariffs on American goods by one year, the Treasury Department confirms.

The decision comes a week after Chinese and US presidents Xi Jinping and Donald Trump met in South Korea.

The 10 percent tariff currently in place on American goods will remain in place for another year, according to a statement from the department. China had previously announced that it would raise tariffs by 24 percent.

The announcement comes after Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that the United States will reduce its tariffs on China from 20 to 10 percent.
