The World Expresses Hope for the Future with Trump

Syria's new leader hopes that Donald Trump will "bring peace", China believes in cooperation to resolve trade issues and Mexico's president believes that dialogue and respect will characterize the relationship with the powerful neighbor. This according to comments after Trump once again became president in the USA.

"We are convinced that he is the leader who can create peace in the Middle East and restore stability in the region," says the new Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa's government in a statement after Trump took over the presidency.

"We look forward to improving relations between our two countries based on dialogue and understanding."

Differences of Opinion

China also expresses hope for strengthened dialogue with the USA.

China is willing to strengthen dialogue and communication with the USA and handle differences of opinion in a good way, says the Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Guo Jiakun.

He adds that he hopes the countries can jointly promote a stable development of trade relations between them.

But Trump's decision to put Cuba back on the list of state sponsors of terrorism is a sign of bullying from the USA, claims China.

The use of the list "fully exposes the USA's hegemonic, arrogant and bullying face", according to Guo Jiakun.

Dialogue and Respect

One of the presidential orders Trump signed directly after his inauguration was to strengthen border security and to resume the construction of walls against Mexico. Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum congratulates Donald Trump on social media.

"As neighbors and business partners, dialogue, respect, and cooperation will always be a symbol of our relationship", she writes.

Recently, she announced that her government has hired lawyers to support Mexicans living in the USA.
