China is holding talks with relevant parties about a meeting between the heads of state and government of China, Russia and the United States, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a press conference, according to AFP.
The Financial Times reported on Tuesday that discussions were under way about a meeting between the three presidents during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting on November 18-19. At the time, Beijing declined to comment, while the Kremlin confirmed that a meeting was being prepared.
It is unclear whether a possible meeting would address the war in Ukraine, but it comes amid increasingly intensive efforts to reach a peace settlement.
