Chinese military has used a laser against a German plane that participated in the EU's military operation Eunavfor Aspides, according to the German Foreign Ministry.
The EU operation aims to protect civilian shipping from Houthi attacks in the area. The mission was interrupted as a precautionary measure after China used the laser, the newspaper writes.
"Endangering German personnel and disrupting the operation is completely unacceptable", the Foreign Ministry writes on X and adds that Beijing's ambassador in Berlin, Deng Hongbo, has been summoned for talks.
The Ministry of Defence states to the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine (FAZ) that no prior contact had occurred.
