Punishments, games that degenerated into violence and lack of care have occurred at a preschool in Ljungby municipality, according to an investigation. Now, staff have been removed from service.

According to Smålänningen, a municipal investigation shows that children between three and five years old have regularly been punished if, for example, they have been naughty, quarreled or failed to take off their outerwear.

The punishment could have been no food, no comfort, being left alone in the dining room or having to sit in a special place to be ashamed. According to the newspaper, parents testify that there was a place in the preschool yard where the children were allowed to fight, and where strangulation occurred.

The municipality is investigating labor law measures and several employees at the preschool have been dismissed, reports P4 Kronoberg . This applies to both staff who worked closely with the children and management staff.

According to Smålänningen, staff accused of neglect no longer work at the preschool.
